Spa Professional Spotlight

April 2008

Francine Rodgers, Esthetician at Wakefield

 1. How long have you been an Esthetician?

I have been a licensed esthetician a little over 2 years.

2. What do you love most about your job?

The best part about my job is making people feel better as well as educating them about their skin.

3. What is your favorite treatment to perform and why?

My favorite treatment to perform is the Brazilian wax! There are not that many jobs where you can tell a noticeable difference after you are done, that is definitely one! Besides, I’m great at doing them!

4. What is your favorite product that we sell at Iatria?

My favorite product is the Sensicalm wash. It does an excellent job of removing impurities from the skin without completely stripping it of its natural oils.

March 2008

Meri Martin,

Massage Therapist at Creedmoor Road

1. When did you become a massage therapist? I have been practicing since 2004.

2. Why did you decide to become a Massage Therapist? I was injured in a car accident, at an early age. I was left with a tremendous amount of pain and was slowly losing pieces of my life - all of the things I loved to do. I began being treated by a Chiropractor and a Massage Therapist and was amazed at how much and how quickly they both helped! I was so moved, that I decided then that I wanted to be a massage therapist.

3. What modalities do you offer? I practice all types of therapeutic massage. Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, and Sports Massage. I also offer Lymphatic, Pregnancy, and Basalt Stone Massage, as well as Cranio Sacral Therapy and Reiki. In addition to massage, I have training in Touch For Health.

4. What is your favorite massage to perform and why. I don't have a specific favorite. I love to combine modalities to most effectively meet the needs of the client. I believe the more tools you have in your tool box, and the better you know how to use and combine those tools, the more effective you will be at helping your clients reach a more balanced state of wellness.

5. What do you do to take care of yourself? I spend as much time as possible outdoors and in nature. I recharge my batteries being in the open air, so I hike, mountain bike and cycle as often as possible. I also try to be diligent about getting my own body work!

6. What do you recommend to your clients to improve their well being? This differs with each client. Stress management techniques, stretching education and a solid referral base are important for each client.

7. What is your favorite Iatria retail product and why? I love the Multi-enzyme smoothing Peel. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and wonderful every time I use it! Also, it smells amazing!!!
